Watterson Tower

Normal, IL

Faith Group performed commissioning services for fire alarm systems replacement for the Illinois State University Watterson Towers and Dining Hall Facility, one of the world’s tallest residence halls. The 28-story complex holds 2,200+ students and stands at 298.5 ft., making it the tallest point between Chicago and St. Louis. Equipped with its own Dining Commons, Watterson is designed in suites, an alternative to a traditional corridor residence hall design. The scope of the project included replacing smoke detectors, audible alarms, and the main control panel. Faith Group worked closely with the project engineer of record and fire alarm contractor to assist with system start-up, diagnostics, and system testing to verify system performance and completion. The project was executed over two years during summer breaks so campus operations would be fully functional in time for the fall semester.
